The word “Enoiteca”..What does this term mean?
Enoiteca is a compound word, which derives initially from “oichia” (house, in Greek), then “oinoiché” (house of wine) and “oicheios” (one who is familiar, who is at home). From here we reach “oinoicheios” (the one who is familiar with wine), plus the addition of “teca” suffix (deposit, collection).
We can therefore conclude that “enoiteca” represents a more familiar concept of wine shop, in which the customer is not simply a “buyer of products” but a real component of a large family that revolves around the world of wine.
